Valve seats and seals

A valve regulates, directs or controls the flow of media by opening, closing, or partially obstructing passageways. An elastomer valve seat or seal is required to close the passageway and create a leak-tight seal. At RUGAVAL, we understand that in order to do this effectively, valve seals must be able to perform under high pressure and aggressive environments.

 

Gaskets / Frame Seals

Gaskets or Frame Seals are designed to be used in applications concerning two or more mating surfaces. They are designed to fill any space between surfaces to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects whilst under compression.

RUGAVAL’s extensive knowledge of elastomer behaviour means that the right material compound can be combined with the right geometry to provide the best performing gaskets and frame seals. Gaskets/frame seals can be moulded in infinite shapes and profiles to suit any geometry and application. The yielding nature of rubber allows gaskets to deform, filling any irregularities in mating surfaces. This makes them particularly versatile for use within a number of engineering-based industries.

 

Anti-wear gaskets

Anti-wear gaskets (also known as wear gaskets) for pneumatic cylinders are used to keep the piston centred, allowing for an even pressure distribution on the seals. These wear gaskets are typically operate in harsh temperatures often found in pneumatic applications due to the heat generation from the friction, but also the operation of the cylinder itself.

When selecting the correct wear gasket for pneumatic cylinders, these considerations must be taken into account and for the selection of the elastomer material.

 

Lip seals for pneumatics

Lip seals are ideal for rotary applications due to the seals nature to maintain friction. An effective lip seal for pneumatics requires constant contact with its rotating counterpart in order for sealing to occur. If further reduction in friction and wear is required, we offer specialist surface treatments to enhance the performance.

 

Pneumatic O-rings

RUGAVAL manufactures high-quality o-rings for many different pneumatic and actuator sealing applications in both standard and custom sizes, from 1mm to 450mm internal diameter and 0.6mm to 12mm cross-section.

 

Diaphragms and membranes

With an infinite amount of sizes available, membranes and diaphragms are typically used in pneumatic control valves and actuators. They are manufactured to very tight tolerances with the appropriate materials to withstand a homogeneous compounding process with considerations such as chemical media, pressure/ vacuum, mechanical requirements and lifetime parameters.
